DO YOU KNOW WHO IS THE FOUNDER OF ACRYLIC NAIL EXTENSIONS?

Updated: Jan 8, 2021

In 1954, Fred Slack, a dentist, broke his fingernail at work and decided to invent the first artificial nail as a temporary replacement until the real nail grew back. He was at the forefront of the development of the first high impact dental crown and bridge materials, the first powder/liquid composite filling material, the first direct bonded orthodontic adhesives, and the first hybrid composite. After all these experiments with different materials to perfect his invention, he and his brother patented a successful version and started the company Patti Nails. For more than 50 years now, the Slack family, owners of NSI and the NSI parent company AMCO, has been researching, developing, and manufacturing innovative products with cutting edge ideas for the professional nail care industry. The Slack family went on to develop the first non-yellowing, cross-linked formulations used in all traditional acrylic systems today. However, over time the process has changed significantly.

Women like to wear artificial nails on their hands as they add a polished look to have long pretty nails. It's a great feeling to be able to go get "nail extensions" instead of waiting months maybe years for the real nails to grow.

In the late 20s, artificial quite long nails became very popular in the women's nail care field. Nowadays, there is a big nail competition and a huge variety of artificial nail products. It is so complicated to choose the best company as many of them offer 'the best products' in the market. Also, there are many opinions about gel and acrylic systems. In my further blog posts, I will share some knowledge about the differences, so it might help you to navigate in product categories and not to get lost in 'magic product names' created only to outstanding a particular business in competition.
